Studies with M. Pardo

Mr. Pardo’s French Immersion students have been developing their French writing skills through a Writing Workshop inspired by the DELF B1 and B2 examinations. Following the Ontario FSL Writing Process, students plan, draft, revise, edit, and publish pieces on unique topics. Their writing is assessed using DELF-inspired criteria, helping them strengthen their communication skills, vocabulary, grammar, and confidence as independent French writers.

During our week in London, students brought L’Étranger by Albert Camus to life by reading selected passages aloud in public. This authentic experience challenged them to use French outside the classroom, and curious onlookers even stopped to listen. Reading the novel in a real-world setting made its themes more meaningful and memorable.

Students also explored London’s historical monuments, comparing Meursault’s character with the historical figures they encountered. They concluded the project by presenting their ideas to Core French classmates, who participated in a peer assessment activity. The experience strengthened students’ critical thinking, presentation skills, and confidence in speaking French.
