TERMS & CONDITIONS

CANCELLATION POLICY

All cancellations must be made in writing to Global Summers Academy. All payments are fully refundable up to and including March 1, 2024. If cancelling on or after March 2, 2024, no monies will be refunded.

Cancellations due to covered medical reasons or bereavement may be eligible for refund if the Global Summers Academy Cancellation Protection is purchased at the time of registration. Appropriate documentation must be submitted to Global Summers Academy.

No refunds will be made after the program has begun. No refunds will be made for students who voluntarily withdraw during the program. No refund will be made for any student whose participation in any program is terminated by Global Summers Academy for use of illegal drugs, abuse of alcohol, or disobeying program rules.

 

CHANGES TO THE ITINERARY

Global Summers Academy reserves the right to alter the itinerary, location, dates, accommodation, or transportation of any program in the event of unforeseen circumstances. Alternatives of equal value and quality will be provided and we would endeavour to minimize the changes.

Global Summers Academy reserves the right to withdraw a program due to insufficient enrolment or unforeseen circumstances, such as public health risks or political unrest.

 

CHANGES TO THE COURSES

Global Summers Academy reserves the right to withdraw a course due to insufficient enrolment by May 1, 2024. Students will be offered an alternative Global Summers Academy course with sufficient enrolment on any program or a full refund. Global Summers Academy reserves the right to combine classes.

 

TRAVEL PORTION

Travel services, including all air travel, accommodations, transfers, and excursions, are arranged by Global Summers Academy, TICO registration # 50025648. The travel portion of your fees is protected by The Ontario Travel Industry Compensation Fund in case of default.

Global Summers Academy reserves blocks of roundtrip seats on specific flights. Flight changes may be permitted depending on the airline being used for your program. Airline change fees and/or additional airfare may be applicable. You will be informed of costs prior to any changes made.

Students who, for personal reasons, do not want to use the round-trip group flights included in the program fee will be eligible for a reduction in their program fee. Reductions will not be made if the return flight portion is unused. Students who opt-out of the group flights must do so at the time of registration. Changes may be made by March 1 based on availability.

We ask that students fly with the group, however, if you are planning alternative arrangements please contact us prior to March 1, 2024.

Group transfers to and from the airports in location are only included for students on group flights. Students with alternative travel arrangements are responsible for their own transportation to and from the airport in the program location.

Please note that we do not have access to the student rooms either before or after the dates of our programs. Students who arrive before the first day or who need to stay after the last day of the programs must make their own arrangements.

 

DOCUMENTS AND VISA REQUIREMENTS

All students require a valid passport for our programs. Students must make sure that their passport is up-to-date and valid for at least six months after their expected return date. Canadian residents travelling with foreign passports must carry a Permanent Residence card or similar document of proof of Canadian residency. Visa requirements for Canadian citizens for the specific program the student is taking will be indicated. Global Summers Academy will not be responsible for students who travel without the required documents. All non-Canadian passport holders must contact Global Summers Academy at the time of registration regarding any visa requirements.

 

VACCINATIONS

Certain destinations may require vaccinations that may have to be taken several weeks prior to arrival. For information regarding required or recommended vaccinations please visit the Canadian Government website at www.travel.gc.ca.

 

STUDENT BEHAVIOUR

Global Summers Academy reserves the right to dismiss any student for alcohol and/or drug abuse, any illegal activity, or for continued disobedience of the program rules, and to send the offending student home at their own, or their parents’, expense. Students are expected to abide by the laws of the countries they are visiting while participating in the programs. Global Summers Academy does not permit the use of cannabis on any of its programs. Any student found in possession of, or using, illegal drugs, including cannabis, will be sent home from the program at their own, or their parents’ expense, and may be subject to penalties under the laws of the countries that they are visiting. Students are expected to attend and to be on time for all classes and academic activities and to complete all of their course requirements. Hitchhiking or the operation of motorized vehicles is strictly forbidden while participating in our programs.

 

LIABILITY AND RESPONSIBILITY

Global Summers Academy will accept no responsibility for any travel arrangements or recreational activities that are not related to the academic program or the housing portion.

Global Summers Academy, its agents and/or suppliers of services act only as agents for the traveller and accept no responsibility for the services of any aircraft, vessel, train, motorcoach, or any other conveyance used in connection with these programs, nor for any delay, loss or accident to travellers or baggage occasioned by such services from whatsoever cause. In the event that it becomes necessary for the comfort and/or well-being of the passenger, or for any other reason, to alter the itinerary or arrangements, such alterations may be made without penalty to the tour operator. The right is reserved to cancel any program and to decline to accept any person as a member of the program at any time. Any IATA or ATC member carrier may be used for the programs. The airlines concerned are not to be held responsible for any act, omission or event during the time the passengers are not on board the aircraft. The passenger ticket in use by the airline, when issued, shall constitute the sole contract between the airline and the purchasers of those tickets and/or passengers.

 

DISCOUNTS

Discounts cannot be combined. This includes all discounts, special offers, scholarships and bursaries. Seasonal discounts may be released periodically, and can only be applied between the dates advertised.

 

DEPARTURE TAXES & OTHER SURCHARGES

Additional charges may include and are not limited to airport taxes, fuel surcharges, departure taxes, new or changed visa costs, and inflation in ground transportation costs.

 

CURRENCY FLUCTUATIONS

Global Summers Academy does its best to minimize currency risks, however, if a significant change in currency occurs between contract signature and final departure, additional charges may apply.
