Snow Monkey Park in Nagano!
We’re kicking off our transfer to Nagano Prefecture with a visit to the famous Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park, and what a perfect way to start this new adventure!
Home to the wild Japanese macaques, these incredible monkeys are known for thriving in the mountains and, during winter, soaking in the area’s natural hot springs. While the scenery was beautiful, it was the monkeys themselves that completely stole our hearts—especially the three playful babies who spent the day tumbling, chasing each other, and putting on quite the show.
There were plenty of gushing smiles from us and the occasional screech of excitement as a monkey suddenly scooted past just inches away. Watching them interact with each other in their natural habitat was such a special experience.
And let’s not forget the amazing rest stop food and shopping along the way—another highlight of the day! Great food, beautiful scenery, adorable monkeys, and a wonderful family adventure… we couldn’t have asked for a better welcome to our new home.
We are already loving Nagano and can’t wait to explore more of what this incredible prefecture has to offer.
