Our First Weekend en France

Bonsoir à tous,

It’s about 11pm local time on Sunday evening, which brings us to the end of our first weekend in France—and what a weekend it’s been! Some of our students visited Vimy Ridge on Saturday for what proved to be a very sobering experience, earning high praise from the tour guides and bus driver (shoutout to our fabulous students for keeping our driver’s son entertained to, from, and during Vimy). Those of us who were not on the excursion opted to take the day to explore Paris, with some of us visiting the legendary Shakespeare and Co. and Ladurée for world-famous macarons.

Today, many of us ventured to Montmartre to take a look around the Paris flea market and Sacré-Cœur, which boasted stunning views of the city. We were honoured to welcome Mr. Blyth to Paris tonight for dinner. He shared some of his own travel anecdotes and philosophies before wishing us bon voyage and setting off to see GSA’s Grand Tour Europe Program.

This week is shaping up to be a lot of fun; tomorrow, a trip to the Louvre is in order, and we’ll be making our way to Versailles on Thursday. A reminder that, if you’d like to keep up with us on a day-to-day basis, to please follow us on Instagram at @gsafrance.

Now that we’ve got our feet under us, we’re ready to hit the ground running!
