🎒Students Take Over Paris! A Day of Guiding, Laughing, and Maybe Getting a Little Lost
If you’re visiting Paris and looking for something a little more personal than a typical tour, imagine this: instead of a guide with a microphone and a crowd of tourists, you’re wandering the streets with a group of students—friendly, curious, and just as excited as you are.
Recently, I tagged along on a day with a few student guides exploring two very different corners of Paris: the bohemian Montmartre and the regal Château de Vincennes. It felt more like hanging out with local friends than following a rigid itinerary.
In Montmartre, we climbed the steps to the Sacré-Cœur (yes, it’s a bit of a workout, but worth it), then wandered through the artistic heart of Paris. The students pointed out favorite crêpe spots, snapped goofy photos near street art, and shared funny tidbits about local artists who once lived there. The view from the top? Still one of the best in the city, especially when paired with spontaneous laughter and shared pastries.
Later, we hopped on the metro to the Château de Vincennes, a quieter escape with castle vibes. The students highlighted quirky details, like how the drawbridge makes everyone feel like a knight for a minute.
The whole day felt like a blend of sightseeing and student exchange. Less about ticking off monuments, more about moments. If you ever get the chance to explore Paris with students as your guides—take it. You’ll learn less about kings and more about what makes this city feel alive today.
