July 21: Cooking in the Village

 

Our cooking class excursion was just so special. We headed to a tiny village called Nippos, a few hours away from Heraklion. The family that owned one of the two  taverns in the village brought us in and made us feel at home. We learned how to make stuffed tomatoes, stuffed peppers, stuffed zucchini, dolmadakia, cheese pits and a village salad.  All of the ingredients we used for cooking were hime grown, organic and fresh!  The experience felt so genuine and authentic. The mountainous village was so peaceful, however we did stir it up a bit with a Greek dance lesson to close off the evening! What an experience, one indeed that we will always remember!
