Hola From Barcelona!
We were excited to arrive in bustling, beautiful Barcelona! From the airport, we were met by our driver, who drove us to our hotel. We checked in, safe and sound. The students had a short time to settle into their rooms and freshen up before we all took a short walk around the neighbourhood to get our bearings.
There was time to relax before an evening meeting and a walk to our first dinner as a team. Now, students have some time to unwind, unpack, and relax together before curfew.
In the morning, we walked around the corner for a typical Spanish breakfast including bocadillos, fruit, and a few cups of café con leche. Then, students jumped into their first full day of class.
In the evening, Sam Blyth paid us a visit. He spoke with the students about his own love of Spain and some lessons learned from a lifetime of travel, which began with an experience similar to the one our students are beginning now.
Students were able to sign out in groups of 4 or more and explore the neighbourhood. Today, a few students did some window shopping, some visited the famous Casa Batlo (designed by architect Antoni Gaudi), and others went in search of their first taste of tapas.
All is well here. We will be sure to update you again after tomorrow’s activities!
All the best,
Diane
