Day 8 - Debates, Debates and more Debates!
Friday, July 31st
Today’s blog is brought to you by Chloe in Ms. Ramos’ English class.
HELLO FRIDAY!! Today is the first – and only – Friday in Syros. The morning started bright and early with a 7:30 am wake-up call to get to our delicious buffet breakfast at 8. Our school day started at 9:00 am, and today we were doing our DEBATES! Once the debates finished, we were introduced to our next assignment that we’ll be working on for the next 5 days.
By lunchtime, we traded the classroom for the beach. We ate lunch at the beach, hearing the sounds of the shore and the sun hitting our skin. After finishing our lunch, we couldn’t resist jumping into the crystal clear blue water of the Aegean Sea. Which was the perfect way to escape the blazing afternoon heat.
The rest of the afternoon passed slowly as we laid on the beach, soaking up the golden sunshine, hanging with friends and watching the blue waters shimmer underneath the blue sky.
Around 5:00pm, we finally made the hike back to our rooms to shower and get ready for the evening. We went down to hear announcements at 7:15 and to have dinner shortly after. Once we had eaten, we got in taxis and we went to the town to go shopping with our friends. As the sun slipped below the horizon, Syros transformed into a lively scene as people filled the streets everywhere you went. A lot of us chose to participate in the photo scavenger hunt while in town. Our mission was to take photos and videos with the locals, as well as cats and near poses around town with our friends.
It was the perfect day to spend our one and only Friday in Syros.
____________
Students are really excited for tomorrow’s hike to St. Stefanos church, which was built inside a cave.
That’s all for now!
