Day 7: Time for Class

Thursday, July 30th

Today’s blog is brought to you by Sophie in Ms. Ramos’ English class.

Καλημέρα, Good Morning!!

With an early 8am start to our day in Syros, we enjoyed a delicious buffet breakfast before heading out to a full day of class. While that may sound boring, class looks a little different for us. Both the English and Ancient Civilizations classes were found sitting outside by the pool or on the patio and working hard on their schoolwork while sun tanning, feeling the cool sea breeze, and looking out at the most beautiful mountain view.

With lunch at 1pm, some of us found ourselves exploring local Greek restaurants and mini marts for new foods to try. While others spent their time looking for fish in the sea, splashing in the pool, or tanning on the glittery sandy beach. While we may be working hard, I can assure you that relaxation is taken very seriously.

After lunch, it was back to classes and working hard on our debates as groups worked together to try and create the perfect argument, all while simultaneously deepening friendships. As class ended at 4pm, we began to make the hike back to our hotel rooms to get showered and ready for dinner, which is an always-changing buffet.

You can never immerse yourself too much in the Greek culture, so many of us went into town after dinner with friends to explore more of the main town and shops along the way. There we found cute clothes, jewelry, and picturesque views that are impossible not to stop and stare at.

Yet, if that isn’t quite the mood you’re in, you are more than welcome to stay back at the hotel and dance the night away, with fun music and the most welcoming atmosphere.

There couldn’t be a more perfect way to end off such a hard-working day than with gelato and music with your new best friends.

We are looking forward to wrapping up class tomorrow and enjoying our first weekend in Greece!
