Day 9: Saturday 7k Hike!
Saturday, August 1st
Today’s blog is brought to you by Lily G. in Ms. Ramos’ English class.
Sunsets, Mountains, and Memories
After our first week in paradise, everyone was excited to start the day sleeping in and enjoying breakfast from the amazing resort buffet, complete with a beautiful view of the beach and our postcard worthy blue and white resort buildings.
There’s no better way to burn off all the free ice cream than a 3.5 km hike to see the St. Stephen’s Church. As we climbed the mountains, we were rewarded with breathtaking views of the perfect turquoise water, and we got to enjoy seeing all different kinds of farm animals living along the mountainside. The heat and uneven ground definitely tested us, but with plenty of water breaks and stops to admire the view, it was so worth it when we finally made it to the cutest little church hidden in a cave.
The smell of the salt in the air, the sound of the waves crashing into the rocks, and the incredible view made it a place we could’ve stayed all afternoon. Unfortunately, we couldn’t stay there the whole day, so after half an hour we made our way back. As soon as we arrived back at the Dolphin Bay Resort, everyone put on their swimsuits and jumped in the sea for a much needed cool down.
With the rest of the afternoon free, we spent time relaxing in the pool, going down the water slide, and tanning on the beach. When 7:15 finally rolled around, it was time to head down for announcements and dinner. We enjoyed our second last dinner on Syros before ending our evening with an eventful sunset volleyball game. The night was wrapped up making bracelets, laughing and creating unforgettable memories together.

Tomorrow we’ll be off to Mykonos for our optional excursion. Can’t wait to share those images with you.
