Day 19 - The Amazing Race

What an unforgettable afternoon our students enjoyed after class as they took on the GSA Barcelona Amazing Race! Teams raced through the streets of Barcelona, following different routes as they explored the city, solved clues, completed creative challenges, and worked together to earn points before reaching the Pit Stop at Barceloneta Beach.

Along the way, teams sampled local food at La Boqueria Market, where they asked vendors to recommend one authentic Barcelona delicacy before everyone tasted and rated it. They admired Gaudí’s incredible rooftop chimneys at Palau Güell, posing for photos while trying to guess how many sculpted chimneys decorated the famous roof. At Pont del Bisbe, students recreated the poses of medieval statues and figures, producing some hilarious photos. On La Rambla, they stepped outside their comfort zones by joining street performers, dancing salsa or bachata, or singing with local musicians before searching for the secret password at the Barcelona Duck Shop. Their final city challenge saw them chatting with visitors from around the world along the Barceloneta Promenade, learning how to say “Have a great day!” in different languages while teaching everyone to shout, “Go GSA!”

The excitement continued at Barceloneta Beach, where every team completed the final beach challenges, including ring toss, building a human pyramid, creating giant “GSA” body letters, and taking on a water relay before solving the final treasure clue.

Congratulations to our Amazing Race champions, who were crowned this year’s winners after an outstanding display of teamwork, problem-solving, determination, and enthusiasm. Every team should be proud of the effort, creativity, and positive attitude they showed throughout the day.

After all the excitement, everyone cooled off with a refreshing swim at Barceloneta Beach before enjoying some free time shopping for souvenirs and treats around the city. We finished the day with a fantastic group dinner, sharing plenty of laughs and stories from our Barcelona adventure.

Tomorrow brings another exciting day! We’ll be back in class in the morning before heading out on a catamaran cruise to enjoy Barcelona from the water. We’ll finish the day by watching the FIFA Club World Cup Final together, giving everyone another memorable experience to look forward to.
