Day 10: Royal Grandeur and Bastille Day Magic in Paris
Our tenth day on the Grand Tour was a majestic and unforgettable blend of French history and modern celebration, beginning with a journey to the opulent grounds of Versailles and ending with fireworks beneath the Eiffel Tower.
The morning began with excitement as students set out on a guided visit to the legendary Palace of Versailles—a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of France’s most treasured historical landmarks. As they explored the ornate halls, royal chambers, and manicured gardens, students were transported back in time. From priceless artifacts to the grandeur of the Hall of Mirrors, the tour offered a powerful, firsthand look at the legacy of French monarchy and revolution.
After returning to Paris, students regrouped and made their way—safely and efficiently via metro and on foot—to a familiar and welcoming restaurant where another delicious French meal awaited. On the menu: a classic quiche and fresh salad, followed by a flavorful French beef stew, and finished with the iconic crème brûlée. It was a true Parisian dining experience and a chance to refuel before an evening like no other.
This wasn’t just any evening in Paris—it was Bastille Day, France’s national holiday, and the city was alive with energy. After dinner, students were given well-structured free time to explore the festive streets of Paris in small groups. As the day turned to night, they made their way to the Eiffel Tower, securing a spot with thousands of others to witness the spectacular fireworks show set against one of the world’s most iconic landmarks.
Though the return to the hotel was delayed due to the enormous crowd—a sea of Parisians and tourists alike—our students remained patient, safe, and in good spirits. Staff ensured everyone returned to their accommodations safely and accounted for, ending the day on a high note.
It was a day of historical immersion, cultural connection, and unforgettable celebration—one that will surely be remembered as a highlight of the Grand Tour of Europe.
