Global Summers Academy has helped me discover my passion for travel and exploration. For my English credit abroad, I decided to go to London and the Greek Islands. At first, I was hesitant because it would be an overwhelming amount of traveling and movement. Surely, there would be no time to enjoy each place we visited while also doing our schoolwork. However, after three weeks of exploring all these amazing and beautiful places, I did not find myself wishing we spent more time in each location but wishing we traveled to more.
The limited time on each island encouraged me to spend every second of my free time exploring and experiencing everything it had to offer. In addition, many of our planned excursions involved walking tours and visiting historic sites like the Acropolis in Athens. In the Acropolis, tour guides explained every different building in the area and their history. A tour that I once thought would be boring and uneventful turned into one of my favorite memories. I remember laughing with my new friends during the walk and being wowed by each building as we listened attentively to the guide.
In the future, I would like to explore even more of these historic sites and learn as much as I can! This newly found perspective I’ve gained while travelling with Global Summers Academy showed me that there is a lot more to travelling than just relaxing in one area. My summer abroad felt like a glimpse into my future. I plan on continuing to pursue this passion and explore many more islands and countries! Global Summers Academy taught me that anywhere you go, there will be amazing stories and places to learn about and discover.
