July 9 - Santorini

This morning the group had a very early start to head to our next destination – Santorini!

Students needed to be awake and ready by 5am for room checks, get their luggage downstairs, have a small breakfast and get on the bus to get to Heraklion to the ferry. Students were able to rest on the bus and the ferry as we made our way to Santorini.

When we arrived, students had time to explore Fira with it’s gorgeous white buildings on the cliffside. They were able to get much needed coffee, lunch, and shop around for souvenirs. In the afternoon it was time to head to Perivolos to the hotel. Students got their room assignments, and while some went straight to the pool for a swim, others enjoyed a bit of quiet time to freshen up, and then met with their teachers for a quick class. Biology wrote a test, English worked on their Mise En Scene projects, and Classical Civilization worked on their culminating projects.

Students freshened up and then we all made our way to our first dinner at a Taverna in town for a classic Greek dinner of salad and a deconstructed chicken gyro with gorgeous views of the beach. After dinner, students walked along the beach and explored, but with such an early morning many made their way back to the hotel for a night swim in the pool before heading to bed.
