Exploring the Vatican & St. Peter’s Basilica

The day began with students working on and presenting their individual poetry analyses before we hopped on the metro for another exciting field trip: the Vatican Museums and St. Peter’s Basilica.🇻🇦

After waiting in the shade beside the towering walls of Vatican City, we met our guides and began with an interactive presentation explaining the symbolism and meaning behind Michelangelo’s masterpieces in the Sistine Chapel (since talking inside isn’t permitted).

From there we explored the Vatican Museums; wandering through galleries filled with incredible sculptures, intricate tapestries, and artwork collected by the popes over centuries. Every room seemed more impressive than the last!🎨🖌️

Stepping into the Sistine Chapel was a memorable moment, and the grandeur of St. Peter’s Basilica left students absolutely awestruck. The scale, beauty, and detail of the basilica were unlike anything we’ve seen so far.⛪️

After the tour, students enjoyed some free time before regrouping for our second pizza tour of the trip! Dinner featured three different pizza flavours, fresh bruschetta, and a delicious tiramisu to finish. 🍕

Another incredible day filled with history, art, and, of course… amazing Italian food!
