Day 5 - Exploring Florence and Another Wonderful Day in Rome! 🚄🇮🇹
Today offered students two exciting ways to experience Italy, with one group travelling to the beautiful city of Florence while the other continued discovering the many treasures of Rome.
For those heading to Florence, the adventure began bright and early aboard Italy’s high-speed train. Travelling through the Italian countryside at incredible speeds was an exciting experience in itself and the perfect way to start the day.
Once in Florence, students had free time to explore the city’s charming streets, browse local shops, and enjoy lunch at their own pace. In the afternoon, they took part in a guided walking tour, learning about Florence’s rich history and incredible Renaissance architecture before visiting the Accademia Gallery, home to Michelangelo’s world-famous sculpture, David. Seeing this masterpiece in person was a highlight of the day for many students. After a little more time to explore the city, the group gathered for dinner, enjoying pasta followed by pork, potatoes, and vegetables, with a delicious panna cotta for dessert before boarding the high-speed train back to Rome.
Meanwhile, students who remained in Rome enjoyed another engaging day of classes. During their lunch break, the students hopped on a bus and travelled to the famous Aventine Hill to experience one of Rome’s hidden gems: the iconic keyhole view. Students were amazed as they looked through the tiny keyhole to discover a perfectly framed view of St. Peter’s Basilica. After enjoying sandwiches for lunch, everyone returned for an afternoon of learning before gathering together for another delicious group dinner.
To finish the day, students spent their evening in different ways. Some chose to explore more of Rome with friends, while others made their way back to the Colosseum to capture stunning sunset and nighttime photos of one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. Seeing the Colosseum illuminated after dark once again reminded us just how magical Rome can be.
Whether wandering the streets of Florence or continuing to explore Rome, today was filled with unforgettable experiences, new discoveries, and memories that our students will cherish for years to come.
