Day 3: Exploring Pompeii
Monday, July 29th
Time to explore Pompeii!
After an early morning fix of croissants and nutella, we boarded our bus for a short ride to the ancient archeological site of Pompeii. Located at the foot of Mount Vesuvius, Pompeii was buried in volcanic ash and dust in 79AD. The volcanic ash preserved the ancient city allowing us to explore what life would have looked like 2,000 years ago.
We enjoyed our two hour walk through the ancient city and realized just how much there is still to see. We’ll have to come back here in the future. After a short break for water and frozen lemonade, we headed back to our hotel for class.
Later today we will be exploring the marvelous city of Sorrento.
More to come!
