Day 19: Day Trip to Chania!

Tuesday, August 11th, 2026

Today’s blog is brought to you by Norah M. from Ms. Ramos’ English class!

Kalimera! Today is our third day on the beautiful island of Crete. The day started off with breakfast at the hotel buffet. After breakfast, it was time for class, where we worked on final assignments and culminating tasks.

Next, it was lunch time, where we switched things up and had lunch at the hotel buffet instead of going to local restaurants. Today’s schedule looked a bit different than usual as we had a fun night in a new city ahead of us. After lunch and a stop at the market across the street, it was time to go back to work. Then, it was finally time to start getting ready for our night out in Chania, the second largest city in Crete.

We had an hour-long bus ride into the city where we saw amazing views of the water, made TikToks and built up our appetites. We got dropped off in the modern part of the city and from there walked to the old port before splitting up to get dinner. Now that we were no longer hangry, it was time to take some pictures with the gorgeous sunset in the background. While taking pictures, the weekly summer Strata Festival came by, and we joined in for the walk to the Kucuk Hasan Mosque, where there was a dance done by the leaders. In the middle of the circle, there were a few men singing and playing the Greek Bouzouki, a string instrument. Once the festival left the old port, everyone split up again to go shopping and get some gelato. It was then time to head to the bus to go back to the hotel.

The bus ride began with looking through our photos from the night, but it quickly became very quiet as people started falling asleep. Once we got back to the hotel, we quickly had announcements for our fun day in Heraklion tomorrow, and then we were off to bed. Goodnight!

____________

Tomorrow, we’ll be off to Heraklion, the capital of Crete, where students will have free time for lunch and exploration (aka shopping), before we head to the Archeological site of Knossos Palace.

That’s all for now!
