Day 13: Living, Learning, and Exploring in Munich

Our thirteenth day on the Grand Tour of Europe began with a delightful breakfast buffet at our hotel—a feast of eggs, yogurts, fresh breads, cheeses, fruits, and a wide selection of meats. The standout favorite? The smoked beef, which Colin made sure to mention more than once!

Fueled and ready, students boarded the metro and made their way into the heart of historic Munich, arriving just in time to witness the famous Glockenspiel come to life at 11:00 a.m. As the intricate figures danced high above the Marienplatz, tourists and locals alike paused to enjoy this daily tradition—our students included, with cameras ready and expressions of awe all around.

After a walking tour through the charming cobblestone streets and vibrant city squares, the group returned to the hotel for an afternoon of focused class time. The photography students began their vlogging module, capturing narrative through lens and voice. History students tackled their mid-term exams, while business students collaborated on project work. The English class settled into a boardroom, turning it into a private screening room to watch a course-related film, blending education with entertainment.

As lessons wrapped up, students enjoyed a bit of free time, with many taking advantage of the hotel’s laundry facilities—some experiencing the joy of doing laundry for the very first time. A perfect opportunity for learning practical life skills along the way!

In the early evening, students signed out in groups of four or more and returned to explore more of Munich at their own pace. From open-air cafés to local artisan shops, they soaked up the culture, always mindful of the 11:00 p.m. check-in. And, just like clockwork, every student returned safely and on time, ready for room checks and well-earned rest.

From cultural traditions to academic rigor and personal growth, it was a well-balanced and wonderfully organized first full day in Germany—and we’re only just getting started.

Another unforgettable step on our Grand Tour of Europe.
