Day trip to Mykonos
This morning started positively with a well needed sleep in, then off we went to our next stop, Mykonos, for the day! It was a quick and smooth ferry ride to one of the most famous Greek islands. A quick walk from the port of Mykonos, we were met with a delicious lunch consisting of Soutzoukakia; traditional Greek meatballs with rice, Greek salad, and bread.
Right after, we took a quick bus ride to the Old Port, in the town of Chora, where we were introduced to our tour guide, Amy. With her passion and knowledge, the two hour tour flew by. We got to see everything Mykonos had to offer, from the port to the windmills and all the white houses with colourful shutters in between. During the tour, we stopped at the oldest bakery on the island, which opened in 1420 and has been in the same family for ten generations. There, we were treated to almond baklava, so delicious!
Once the tour came to an end, we were given endless time to explore the island with complete freedom. The biggest attraction was definitely the shopping. Every store was filled with clothes, accessories, and trinkets for everyone. Before everyone met to go back on the ferry home, we went to a local recommended gelato shop and with no surprise, it was super tasty!
Finally, we were back at the resort with dinner waiting for us to bring back to our rooms. A fun-filled day deserved a good night’s sleep, and so it was!

Tomorrow we’ll sadly have to say goodbye to Syros and its amazing resort, as we head off to our next destination, the iconic island of Santorini.
