Day 1 in Santorini
καλωσορίσατε στη Σαντορίνη! Welcome to Santorini!
The quaint island of Syros will forever hold a place in our hearts, with is gorgeous beaches, beautiful hiking, and crystal clear waters. But now, we are destined for more adventure.
Goodbye Syros, welcome to Santorini!
Our first time on a high speed ferry, the trek over to Santorini was very smooth! On the way, we stopped off to pick up passengers at the islands of Mykonos, Paros, Naxos, and Ios. Students had the chance to see the Cycladic islands from afar, and snap a few pictures from the ferry deck.
We arrived midday to our accommodations, the New Haroula Hotel, which is absolutely stunning, with its scattered white villas at the base of the town of Fira.
Students were kept up and on the move to go for a walking tour of Fira, showing them around the narrow pedestrian laneways along the edge of the Santorini caldera, getting them familiar with their surroundings.
After the tour, the students had the opportunity to go and get their own lunch, and many opted for McDonalds after a week of Greek food! Teenagers will be teenagers.
We enjoyed a beautiful dinner in Fira, eating delicious pork belly and mash potato purée, and many students chose to stay in afterwards to complete school work. Our students work hard and play hard!
Tomorrow, another full day of class, followed by sunset at Oia!
