Arrivederci Italia
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Throughout the program, the students have travelled across Italy and experienced la dolce vita. Today, our final journey from Rome to Toronto brings this incredible adventure to a close.
The students return home as far more seasoned travellers than when they first arrived in Italy. It is difficult to fully describe the impact this experience has had on the students, our staff, and myself. However, I know that when we reflect on this journey in the years to come, we will remember an adventure filled with friendships, personal growth, and memories that will last a lifetime.
Our final banquet near Campo de’ Fiori was a celebration of everything the group accomplished together. In just 25 days, a remarkable group of young adults became a close-knit community. One of the greatest rewards of this program is witnessing the friendships that develop in such a short period of time. Students who began the journey as strangers are returning home as friends, many of whom will remain connected for years to come.
Throughout the program, the students consistently demonstrated maturity, responsibility, and respect. They embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm and curiosity, eagerly exploring new places, learning about a different culture, and stepping outside their comfort zones. As both an educator and a fellow traveller, it has been incredibly rewarding to watch their confidence, independence, and appreciation for the world grow. These are qualities that will continue to serve them well long after this program has ended.
As we looked around the room during our final dinner, it was easy to see just how much the group had come to care for one another. They shared stories and laughed about their experiences in Siena, Florence, Venice, Sardinia, Sorrento, and Rome. The sense of community they built together was truly something special.
The evening concluded with food, music, gelato and good company, this is the Italian way after all. It was the perfect way to celebrate an unforgettable experience. Be sure to check out our photo blog from our final evening together.
On behalf of the entire staff, thank you for placing your trust in us and for giving your son or daughter the opportunity to spread their wings. This program provided students with the independence to solve problems, navigate unfamiliar situations, and experience another culture in a meaningful way. The growth we have witnessed over the past month has been wonderful.
I would also like to recognize our outstanding staff team, Chris, Claudia, and Natasha. It has been a pleasure working alongside each of you. Your dedication to your students, your passion for teaching, your empathy, and your unwavering support helped make this program the success that it was. Whether in the classroom, during excursions, or documenting the experience through photos and activities, your efforts never went unnoticed. Thank you for everything you did to make this journey so memorable. I hope we have the opportunity to work together again in the future.
While I know the students are excited to reunite with their families, I also know there will be many tears as they say goodbye to their Global Summers Academy Italy family. The friendships they have built, the experiences they have shared, and the memories they have created will remain with them for many years to come. Although our journey through Italy is ending, the community that was built here will continue back home in Canada.
Thank you once again for entrusting us with your children. It has been a privilege and a joy to be part of this extraordinary experience.
Have a wonderful rest of the summer, and safe travels home.
Sincerely,
Rich Mossuto
