ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE OF OLYMPIA (THE BIRTHPLACE OF THE OLYMPIC GAMES), GREECE

Olympia is on the western coast of the Peloponnese in southern Greece. The ancient city was like many others, with one exciting exception: the Olympics! Ancient Olympia had two parts: the city and the Olympics fields situated on the mountains above.

The Olympic flame for today’s Olympic Games travels every four years from the city. It is lit by reflection of sunlight in a parabolic mirror at the restored Olympia stadium, and then transported by torch to the place where the games will be held.

A must-visit place which will have you travelling back in time! We will enjoy a guided tour in the site and on our way, we will stop to have an included lunch at a traditional local restaurant, to enjoy the authentic Greek Philoxenia. We will spend the day exploring the ancient ruins and learning what life was like during the Greek Empire.

What to bring: Water, walking shoes, hat, and sunscreen.
Duration: 8 hours
Anticipated date: Tuesday, July 14, 2026
