Sun, Sea, and Ancient Stones: A Perfect Day in Split

Today was the kind of day every student traveler dreams of — a perfect mix of sunshine, swimming, and history!

We started the morning with a quick class session, then packed up for a relaxing afternoon at the beach. We found the perfect shady spot under a tree, set up our towels, and dove into the turquoise water. The students swam together like a school of fish, laughing and splashing, while the brave ones took turns jumping off the pier into the sea below.

After a quick rinse and change, we met up with our favorite guide from the Krka Waterfalls — Damir — for a walking tour of Diocletian’s Palace. His storytelling brought the ancient Roman ruins to life as we wandered through narrow stone alleys, hidden courtyards, and grand colonnades. Students were amazed to learn that people still live and work inside this 1,700-year-old palace!

It was a day full of contrasts — from salty swims to ancient stones — and one that reminded us how travel can be both relaxing and deeply enriching.
