Mykonos Excursion & Syros Sunsets

Sunday gave students the opportunity to choose how they wanted to spend their final full day in Syros, with many taking part in our optional excursion to the beautiful island of Mykonos. Students who joined the excursion enjoyed a fantastic day filled with sightseeing, local history, delicious food and plenty of shopping. The day began with a guided tour of the old port, where students learned about the island’s history and the famous windmills that have become a symbol of Mykonos. They also visited Gioras Bakery, the oldest surviving wood fired bakery on the island, where they sampled the bakery’s famous Mykonian biscuits. The bakery has been in the family for 10 generations and has been operating since 1420, making it a truly unique experience!

After the guided tour, students had free time to explore the charming streets of Mykonos Old Town. They wandered through the maze like streets, browsed local shops, enjoyed the lively atmosphere and captured plenty of photos. Although it was a warm day, everyone embraced the adventure and made the most of their time exploring one of Greece’s most famous islands.

Back in Syros, students who stayed behind enjoyed a relaxing day. Many took the opportunity to get ahead on schoolwork or finish their remaining assignments, while others spent their final day by the pool or at the beach, soaking up the sunshine and making the most of their last hours on the island. In the evening, we met for dinner at the hotel before heading down to the beach to enjoy one final Syros sunset together. Students spent the evening playing beach volleyball and relaxing by the water.
