July 5 - Chania
Today students got to go to one of Crete’s most beautiful towns in the northwest, Chania. We loaded onto the bus in the morning to drive through the island. Chania is known to be picturesque, famous for the Old Venetian Port and combination of architectural influences. When we arrived, students had a quick class, and then were able to explore. The Classic Civilization class toured some famous historic sites, while Biology did a review for their test tomorrow and got pictures for their summative photo blogs. The English classes also took photos and videos for their vlogs and writers portfolio, while enjoying the food and shopping Chania had to offer.
When we got back to Rethymno, some students made their way to the beach while others decided to stay at the hotel to rest after a big week and get some homework and laundry done. After a restful afternoon out of the sun, quick walks to get viral desserts were at the top of the list to make sure they had the best snacks for a quiet night in. We also had to make sure we gave the hotel mascot, Junior, some company. Students are rejuvenated and ready for their second week on program.
