July 3 - Beautiful Barcelona
On our first few days in Europe, we hit the ground running. Tuesday was a day of class for most, and for our English students, that meant beginning work on groups presentations.
A few students headed out for our first optional excursion, hiking along the Costa Brava, north of Barcelona. We were taken care of by our driver Antonio and our fabulous guide, Marta. The trail ran mostly through light pine forests, along the cliffs and beaches of the coast. Some of the climbs were hot and difficult, but the views were stunning. The group stopped for a swim along the route, then had a fabulous meal at a hotel restaurant. They had a second chance to swim at a final beach before a long drive back to our hotel.
The next day, we had breakfast, then our whole group walked to the Sagrada Familia church in the centre of this beautifully designed city. We had 2 private guides, Carlos and Tony, who showed us around and explained the history and design of this iconic building.
We had time for lunch, then loaded our bus to drive all the way to Bilbao. We’ll update you from there!
