From Deck Chairs to Diocletian: A Student’s Starry Voyage to Split

We left with zero expectations—and that made all the difference. Boarding the SNAV ferry to Split felt like stepping into a floating festival. For students on a budget, it’s less about fancy cabins and more about what happens when you turn the open sea into your personal playground.

Once the sun dipped below the horizon, we turned the ferry’s top deck into the chillest cinema under the stars.

Touching down in Split felt like waking up mid-dream—with sun. We barely made it off the ferry before sprinting to the nearest beach, and “Fun Beach”didn’t disappoint. Picture shallow waves, local music vibing in the distance, beach activities galore.

Refueled by sea air and a solid nap on the sand, we dove into Split’s Old Town. Diocletian’s Palace felt like Hogwarts meets history class—minus the homework. Marble alleys led to tiny shops, secret courtyards, and tiramisu that could make you tear up.

Dinner that night? Instant legend. We stumbled into a tucked-away tavern that felt like someone’s grandma had taken over the kitchen—and thank goodness. The bouillon soup warmed up our sun-soaked souls, and the goulash… I think it changed one of our lives. Rich, hearty, and devoured in silence except for muttered “oh my god”s between bites.

Split gave us the student dream: high-vibe, and a taste of culture and cuisine we’ll be bragging about for semesters to come.
