Florence and Rome

For the last 2 days we have had two full day optional excursions to Florence and Pompeii.  To Florence students were able to experience the Italian countryside by taking the 1.5 hour train ride from Rome to Florence.  Students then had a city tour followed by seeing the very famous ‘David’ statue (Michaelangelo). After that students safely toured the city markets and sites in groups of 4 or more. Lots of pictures, leather, clothing and souvenirs were purchased, lots of fun. Before heading back on the train students had a fantastic dinner at a local restaurant. It was a very full and busy day!

In Pompeii, students took an air conditioned coach bus to Mt. Vesuvius to the ancient village of Pompeii to have a guided tour of the archeological park. Lots of learning and wandering the ancient streets of Pompeii. Students went back in time and loved that experience.  A great hearty lunch followed the tour before heading back by bus to join the rest of their friends for some free time before dinner.

Today, students who signed up for the beach excursion are boarding a bus as I type this.  We will update you on this optional excursion and our last day in Rome tomorrow.  Tomorrow we fly to Greece for another amazing adventure.

Ciao for now,
