First optional Excursion (Authentic Crete Villages)

Our day was filled with unique experiences, starting with a beautiful clay pottery demonstration where a local artisan explained the rich history of Margarites village. Then, we enjoyed a coffee break at a scenic lookout point, soaking in the stunning views. A visit to a local monastery followed, where we learned about the Ottoman occupation and the inspiring resistance of the Cretan people. Next, we explored the impressive dam and reservoir, vital for energy production and water conservation on the island. A highlight of the day was a farm-to-table meal at a charming countryside restaurant, where we savored fresh vegetables from the garden and delicious meat from the farm. Finally, we took a short hike to a gorge, discovering an ancient temple from the Greek classical period nestled inside a cave—a truly unforgettable sight.
