Day 9: Exploring Heraklion
Yassas! Students started the morning by checking in for breakfast before gathering to continue reviewing course material and ensuring everyone was staying on track academically. Many students also took advantage of the morning by dropping off laundry or getting some done at the hotel before another exciting day of exploring.
Not long after we made our way to Heraklion, another beautiful city in Crete. Upon arrival, we enjoyed a short walking tour so students could become familiar with the area and know our designated meeting point before heading off for some free time. Students spent the afternoon exploring the city, shopping for souvenirs, visiting historical sites and enjoying an amazing lunch.
Later in the day we regrouped and headed to the incredible Knossos palace. Students had the opportunity to learn about the fascinating history of the Minoan civilization and hear the famous myths and legends connected to the palace including the story of the Minotaur and the labyrinth.
It was a busy and exciting day filled with plenty of walking and warm weather and our students did an amazing job embracing every moment. We returned to the hotel in the evening to enjoy dinner together before students had some free time to relax and reflect on another unforgettable day in Greece.
