Day 4 - Sun, Surf, and exploring Portugal 🇵🇹

We started the day by leaving Lisbon and heading to Nazaré for a beach and surf day. It was one of the hottest days we’ve had so far, so spending time in the ocean was the perfect way to cool off. We spent the afternoon surfing, swimming, and relaxing on the beach while taking in the beautiful coastline. Nazaré is famous for its massive waves in the winter, and although they weren’t that big during our visit, it was still an amazing place to experience.

After a fun day at the beach, we continued on to Porto, where we’ll be spending the next part of the program. Our hotel is just outside the busy city centre, so after checking in everyone had a chance to unwind. Some of us took a walk around the neighbourhood and stopped at a local grocery store to pick up snacks and anything we needed, while others headed into downtown Porto to explore a bit more before calling it a night.

This morning, we started with our class before heading into the city for a walking tour. We explored Porto’s historic streets, learned about the city’s history, and stopped at some incredible viewpoints overlooking the Douro River. Porto has a completely different feel from Lisbon, with its colourful buildings, steep streets, and beautiful waterfront. The final photo in this blog captures one of our favourite views from today’s sightseeing and is the perfect way to wrap up our time in Portugal!
