Day 3 - Our First Class & Acropolis Tour

Sunday, July 27th

Kalimera from Athens! After a good night’s sleep our group was up bright and early and eager to get our very first class underway. However, before we could start classes, we needed to fuel up for the day and what better way than on our beautiful hotel rooftop. Greek breakfast tastes even better when you have the view of the Acropolis right in front of you.

Ms. H and Ms. Amelio decided to start their English classes with a scavenger hunt. Students were placed into groups and given a clue. Once they solved their first task, they were given their next clue. The students had fun running around the nearby streets looking for ancient archaeological sites, local coffee shops and famous Athenian souvenirs. It was a great way for students to get to know each other and the area around the hotel.

Mr. Elmslie’s classical civ class ventured out to a nearby archaeological site and had a great morning exploring Athens’ rich history.

Ms. Srdanov’s photography class spent the morning editing their projects before venturing out into the city for some more photos.

After a busy day of classes, it was time for our group to hike up to the top of the Acropolis and explore one of the most spectacular sites in the world. Our guide helped us navigate the droves of tourists and took us to the best spots to get some shade and learn about this incredible place.

Following the tour, we walked through the maze of the Plaka shopping neighbourhood, on our way to dinner at a local taverna.

Students had their first opportunity to sign out and they took that opportunity to explore the local area and do some shopping.

We have an early morning wake-up tomorrow so that we can catch our ferry to the beautiful island of Syros!

We are ready to get our beach on!

Stay tuned for more.
