Day 21: Mamma Mia!

Thursday, August 13th, 2026

Today’s blog is brought to you by Emily in Ms. Soleski’s English class!

We woke up bright and early for another day in beautiful Crete. By 8:00 a.m., everyone was downstairs at the hotel, ready for a buffet breakfast before another busy day of classes. Once our plates were full and everyone had fueled up, it was time to get started.

Today was a big work day because all of the classes were preparing for their final presentations and culminating projects. Even with all the work, classes at Global Summers Academy never feel like an average school day. Ms. Soleski’s class got to work from a cute little local coffee shop, while Mr. Peters’ History class and Ms. Ramos’ English class worked from our gorgeous hotel.

After a productive morning, it was finally time for lunch from 12:30 to 2:00. Students spread out around the area, grabbing food from some of the delicious restaurants near our hotel before heading back for another afternoon of work.

By 4:00, the school day was officially over, and everyone had some much-needed free time. Some students decided to relax and recharge before dinner, while others took advantage of the beautiful weather and went tubing in the stunning Mediterranean Sea. By 7:00, everyone was back at the hotel for dinner, but the night was far from over. After dinner, we rushed out to grab every snack imaginable because tonight was movie night! The movie of choice was Mamma Mia, which felt especially fitting considering we were watching it right here in Greece. Since it’s a musical, you can probably imagine what happened next. Before long, everyone was singing at the top of their lungs, dancing around, and completely forgetting that we were supposed to be watching a movie. When the credits rolled and “Dancing Queen” played one last time, everyone came together for one final dance party. It was the perfect ending to the night.

Eventually, it was time for sign-in, and after all that dancing, everyone was more than ready for bed. We fell asleep exhausted but happy, already excited for whatever tomorrow would bring. Goodnight!

Tomorrow is our last day of classes, with all classes set to do their final culminating presentations. Students are also excited for the overnight ferry ride to Athens.
