Day 1: Travel Day & Touchdown in Playas del Coco

Today we headed to the airport bright and early for our flight to Costa Rica! The students did an awesome job getting through customs and jumped right into meeting each other and making new connections. Our flight was breezy, filled with snacks, conversations, and some much needed zzz’s.
We arrived safely in Liberia, where we were greeted by our wonderful tour and bus guides, ready to bring us to our new home for the week. Along the way, we stopped at a beautiful restaurant for our first Costa Rican meal – a delicious buffet-style lunch that hit the spot! From there, we made our final journey to Hotel Toro Blanco, our temporary home. Since there are 58 of us, we have the whole place to ourselves!
After checking into our rooms, we kicked off the afternoon with a refreshing pool session, followed by some fun icebreaker games and activities on the beach, where we captured our first group photo and our first sunset. We wrapped up the night with a lovely homemade dinner, a relaxing stroll through town, and our first stop at the local grocery store. It was a wonderful, exciting, and jam-packed first day – can’t wait for more to come!
