We started our day with an exciting visit to the archaeological site of the Palace of Knossos, a 4,000-year-old marvel! The students were thrilled to explore the original palace interior, admire the famous pillars of King Minos’ palace, and walk along the oldest road in Europe. They were able to connect the palace to the myths of Theseus and the Minotaur, Zeus and Europa, and Daedalus and Icarus, which they had been learning about in class. It was a fantastic opportunity to see their studies come to life.
In the afternoon, some of the English students performed their presentations, which were extremely well done and showcased their hard work and creativity.
Later, we headed to a local taverna in Heraklion for dinner, where we had the joy of celebrating Maeghan’s 17th birthday! Happy birthday, Maeghan! The evening was filled with delicious food, laughter, and a wonderful sense of community as we honoured this special occasion.
This day was a perfect blend of history, academic achievement, and celebration, making it a truly memorable experience for everyone!
