A day in the life of a Global Summers Academy Student

A day in the life of a Global Summers Academy student can take many awesome forms, but I am here to outline an example of a regular day as a GSA student while travelling abroad. On weekdays, students often wake up for breakfast around 8:00 a.m.

In photography, the course I took, we met for class at 8:30 a.m. We would learn about the anatomy of the camera or composition techniques for photos before heading out to take pictures around some of our gorgeous destinations! We would spend 2-3 hours doing lessons in Rome, Kalamata, and other destinations too. We photographed local markets, landmarks, parks, beaches, and more! After the lesson was over, it was common to have some asynchronous work. This could be working on a presentation, working on our culminating project, a photography blog, or taking more photos.

After my friends and I completed our work for the day, it was usually around 3:00 p.m. With time before announcements and dinner, we would head to the beach or spend time with our friends. Every student and teacher met for announcements and updates at roughly 6:30 p.m., and then we would head to dinner.

We ate so much delicious food on our program. Dinner takes place either in the hotel or in a restaurant at location, and every student on the program eats together. After dinner, we would sign out in groups of four or more, and have free time, and then sign back in before curfew. Sometimes, we also chose to stay in and finish some work or to hang out with your roommates. Once we signed in, my roommates and I got ready for bed, completed our room check, and then fell asleep!
