A Message from the Program Manager Diane
Good morning from Costa Rica!
We’re now into the second half of our busy program and the students are having an experience they will never forget. Over the past 2 weeks, our students have made new friends, tried new foods, faced academic pressures, compromised with roommates, and learned to navigate 2 foreign currencies at the same time, and made some amazing memories!
Choosing to complete a full-credit course in 25 days is an ambitious undertaking. However, these students are rising to the challenge and working hard at their academics. After classes, they are also taking advantage of the opportunities to relax together and enjoy the amazing towns in which we find ourselves.
Our time in Costa Rica began on the coast, in a lively beach town, but then we drove the winding roads up the mountains to Monteverde, then on to Arenal. These locations were perfect for spotting amazing wildlife as we hit the trails. Wi-fi was spotty during there, which meant some of our photo uploads have been delayed, but we thank you for your patience around that.
Yesterday, we drove back down from the mountains and returned to our seaside base in Playa del Coco. We’ve spent a lot of time in this town, and it’s great to see that our students are recognized by the locals for their friendliness. The coming days will be filled with swimming, studying, surfing, Scuba – and lots of class work as well. While the schedule will be busy, the kids are learning to approach things with a Costa Rican “Pura Vida” mindset, and life is good!
We will continue to update you via the blog and Instagram as our program continues, and before you know it, we’ll be seeing you at the Arrivals area of Pearson airport!
All the best,
Diane
