COSTA RICA AUGUST
PROGRAM

Costa Rica is a country like no other. Although small in size, this Central American gem is home to an incredible variety of landscapes and ecosystems, with 26% of this tiny Central American country composed of conservation and natural protected territory. From breathtaking rainforests, towering volcanoes, to pristine beaches and some of the rarest and endangered wildlife on the planet, Costa Rica offers an unforgettable opportunity to experience nature, culture and adventure all in one destination.

Our first stop, the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, has been described as “the jewel in the crown of cloud forests”. Discover this unique area by trekking across walkways built through the forest canopy. This will give you an opportunity to learn about cloud forest ecology and the thousands of plant and animal species that call this environment home. Experience a nighttime hike to uncover fascinating nocturnal animals that do not reveal themselves during the day.

Next, we travel to Playas del Coco, one of the most popular beach towns in the country. Here you can experience Pura Vida, or “pure life”. It is more than just a phrase, it is a very relaxed and simple way of looking at life. Costa Ricans are very friendly and laid back, so embrace the Pura Vida mentality! Spend your free time swimming at the beautiful beaches, getting to know the locals, enjoying the cuisine and studying with incredible views.

Playas Del Coco is conveniently located on the North Pacific coast, which gives easy access to a variety of excursions and adventures. Soar through the rainforest canopy on a zipline, walk across hanging bridges, relax in the mineral-rich hot springs, and swim along the idyllic coastline. Ecotourism in Costa Rica has been able to actively contribute to the conservation of the natural environment of the country. Experience how tourism and conservation can work together to protect Costa Rica’s incredible natural environment. In the jungles or at the beach, you may see monkeys, sea turtles, colourful Scarlet Macaws, sloths, tapirs and many more animals that are unique to Costa Rica.

Our third location takes us to the fascinating Arenal Volcano National Park, at the heart of one of Costa Rica’s most adventure-filled regions. Arenal is known to be the adventurous capital of Costa Rica, with access to the rainforest, a volcano, waterfalls and the country’s largest lake. Explore rainforest trails, discover waterfalls and learn about the region’s fascinating volcanic history.

Finally, return to Playas del Coco to reflect on the journey, enjoy the Pacific coast and embrace the Pura Vida lifestyle one last time.
