MARCH BREAK
HYBRID PROGRAM

About Cozumel Educational Programs on July

Experience March Break on the beautiful island of Cozumel, in the Caribbean Sea, off the eastern coast of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. Cozumel offers incredible ocean life, beautiful beaches, tropical forests and Mayan ruins.

First settled by the Maya as a sacred place of the moon goddess Ix Chel, Cozumel is considered a sacred sanctuary and called “Cuzaam Luumi” which means land or place of the swallows. Just a short ferry ride from Playa del Carmen, you will have the opportunity to go swimming, relax on the beach, and participate in many activities. Spend your days learning and studying by the poolside and taking in the beach views.

Enjoy some city time in Cozumel’s main town, San Miguel. With its beautiful colonial architecture and gorgeous cobblestone streets, San Miguel is bustling with culture, art, and cuisine.

For optional excursions, take the opportunity to experience the Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Ocean lovers will jump at the chance to snorkel or scuba dive in the crystal clear waters taking in spectacular views of the vibrant coral reefs and marine life.

Our program will culminate with a beautiful sunset cruise on a catamaran and a final banquet on a private beach club.

NOTE: When purchasing sunscreen, look for biodegradable creams and avoid products that contain the chemicals oxybenzone and octinoxate, which can affect Cozumel’s underwater ecosystem.

ONLINE LEARNING: Asynchronous/self-directed course work will begin at the start of February with students working independently at their own pace. Approximately 75% of the course will be completed online before we set off for Cozumel.
