GRADE 11 & 12
AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND JULY PROGRAM
Oceania offers travellers a diverse array of destinations, from the warm sandy beaches and busy cities of Australia, to the rugged snow-capped peaks and green valleys of New Zealand. Experience three seasons, all in July, on this extraordinary program to the other side of the planet.
Often referred to as “Canada without winter,” Australia is a cosmopolitan, multicultural summer playground with thousands of gorgeous tropical beaches, sun, surf, and a welcoming, friendly vibe that will feel familiar to most Canadians.
In Sydney, known for its iconic Opera House and Harbour Bridge, students can walk the amazing coastal trail from Coogee to the famed Bondi Beach, and opt for a surf lesson in Manly.
To the north, Brisbane offers students a taste of hipster cool, with laid-back cafés, excellent vintage shopping, and an artistic vibe. While in the area, students can take the opportunity to visit the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary to meet koalas, feed kangaroos, and learn about unique Australian wildlife.
A short flight north will bring us to Airlie Beach and a change of pace. Students will have the opportunity to head to Whitsunday islands and dig their toes in the soft sand of the Whitehaven Beach. Opt to Snorkel and explore the Great Barrier Reef.
Next, it’s off to New Zealand, a marvel of geography from snow-capped mountains to long sandy beaches.
We will begin in Auckland on the North Island and explore this vibrant city with its spectacular range of scenery, including volcanic cones and panoramic ocean views. We will then head south to New Zealand’s capital city of Wellington. Located at the southern tip of the North Island, this lively city is full of arts and culture. Students will enjoy the bustling waterfront promenade and take in the famous Te Pape Museum to learn about New Zealand’s rich history and Maori culture.
Our last stop is Queenstown, known as the adventure capital of the world located on the South Island. Queenstown offers skiing on Coronet Peak, Maori cultural shows, kiwi bird sanctuaries, and more. Daredevils will even have the option to bungee jump!
An incredible and adrenalin-filled Oceanic adventure!
SPECIAL PROGRAM NOTE: The Oceania winter months are July and August, but UV levels remain high. Wear a broad spectrum, biodegradable sunscreen to protect the skin as well as the ocean’s coral reef, which can get damaged from chemicals found in common sun creams.
